Improving the speed of a Drupal Site

I've had to look at a few options for improving performance on this site. I noticed that the introduction of the Feedburner module and moving the RSS feeds across to Feedburner had caused some performance issues.

As I write this, I'm making some changes to the site based on the Essential Steps to Speed up a Drupal Web Site series of articles.

The current change is to implement the Block Cache Module, so you may see a couple of pieces of content duplicated while I switch from dynamic to cached content.

Page Loading Times

I've been having a look at the Web Page Speed Report over at websiteoptimization.com. Some useful stats there to make me think about how to speed up this site. I've reduced the thumbnail image sizes and increased the default compression. Add that to some of the other changes above and the site's already improving.
