As part of the clear-out of our house in preparation for redecorating, I've been going through my CD collection. They're going into 3 or 4 piles depending on what I think they'll be useful for. Many of the collection wont feature here, just those border-line CDs that I couldn't decide on without listening to again. I'll add to the list as I go along.

Dark Angel - Leave Scars
Not sure why I have this. I remember buying it. It fitted in with my collection nicely at the time and as a bonus, it was very cheap. But I don't think I listened to it that much after the first year or two. So it's going. It's heavy with only a couple of the tracks having any real melody. I remember liking one track a lot, but this time around I couldn't even be bothered to listen to it.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Into the Great Wide Open
I remember this album coming out and I bought it at a time when I bought very few cds (possibly 4 a year) so it must have been special. I'd have thought I'd have listened to it more often considering how much I liked it at the time. But then I lost it around the house. Having found it recently, it's been great to listen to it again. Unfortunately, it's not as good as I remember and is a bit bland in places. I'm keeping it even if only for "All or Nothing".
Foreigner - The Best of (2CD)
And no, I'm not just keeping AOR CDs. I'd expect to find others that will go. I like this CD a lot. Now I've heard some of the tracks again, there's no way I'm getting rid of it. I'm not much of a fan of the 80s Foreigner. Actually, I could probably say that I'm not much of a fan of most 80s music, preferring the decades either side. But 70s Foreigner was something else. It has the right mix of guitar, vocals, bass, drums and synth - whereas later records were too synth-heavy. I love the guitar solos, they're fluid and lyrical in a way that few others are. I can only think of Brian May's work with Queen as having the same motion across the fretboard.
