Raw rw2 files on OS X with Raw Photo Processor

One of my major gripes with the Panasonic DMC-FX150 is that the rw2 raw files cannot be opened in Adobe Lightroom or OS X.

As I type, Lightroom still doesn't support rw2 files. Neither does the recent Apple update to supported cameras.

However, I've found I can manipulate the files using Raw Photo Processor. It's a free application with additional features accessible to those who donate to the developer. It's not running well on my Macbook at the moment. It does its job, it's just slow. That could be because of the other applications also running (Safari seems to be having one of its moments right now).

The edit with external editor feature is for allowing the filed saved in Raw Photo Processor to be immediately opened in another editor. At that point, the file is no longer in the raw file format.

I'd guess that application could be used for the Panasonic LX3 as well as the DMC FX 150 and statements on the application's site confirm that.
